I'm going straight from 'Mom workin' out in the gym mode' to 'Beast Mode' I'll be running, crawling, trudging, slogging and wading for 3.16 miles on May 10th. Yes, I signed up for the Warrior Dash. It will be three miles of twelve different obstacles scattered through out the course. I will be running through mud, wading through water, jumping over fire and a lot of climbing up walls. It will require endurance, balance, and a lot of upper body strength.
So as Emeril says, I'm going to need "to kick it up a notch". But at the same time I don't want to overdo it and re-injure my leg. I will continue to lift weights three days a week at the gym but increase the weights I'm pumping. Gotta build up that upper body strength. Then I will continue to run three days a week when I'm not at the gym. I will even add some core exercises and a couple of bike rides a week. If old man winter ever decides to leave!
This is all hard to do on your own without a buddy. Since no one else I know seems up for the task I will look to one thing that motivates me -- pumps me up -- music!
These are songs for a Warrior's workout. They bring back some great memories and help motivate me.
As I look at this list there seems to be quite a few Heavy Metal Bands from the 70's & 80's that are my favorites. Does that make me a metal head?
