Self-Value

Pilgrimage to Healing My Heart, Mind and Soul Day 21

In a previous post I shared how Self-Worth is the back bone of your "selfs". An important part of healing from emotional abuse is knowing you are worth. You need to know you are a good person who deserves to be treated with respect. Self-Worth along with Self-Value are integral roles in how you see and treat yourself in everyday life.

We have all gone through emotional abuse in some form through out our lives. Emotional abuse is a wide spectrum of words and behaviors that are meant to diminish your self-esteem and make you feel less than.

These types of toxic relationships are a danger to your Self-Worth and Self-Value. It is time to stop being taken advantage of and being taken for granted. These relationships are demanding but you get so little.

Signs of Emotional Abuse

  • Insults
  • Put Downs
  • Name Calling
  • Public Embarrassment
  • Constant Blame
  • Intimidation
  • Isolation
  • Making Threats
  • Rejection
  • Pretending not to notice you
  • Pretending not to hear you
  • Stonewalling
  • Controlling Money
Until you educate yourself and realize this type of behavior is unacceptable, you will continue this cycle in all your relationships. When you finally make the decision to leave, you can begin to heal.

The first step in my healing is knowing and telling myself I AM WORTH! The next step is working on Self-Value. Self-Worth is more emotional and Self-Value is more actionable like walk the walk and talk the talk. We take the foundation of how we feel about ,ourselves and put it to work.

Having a healthy sense of self-worth helps us to make good decisions on our life path and the relationships we form. Self-value is an action that keeps us aligned with our self-worth.

The following tips are my next steps on my pilgrimage.

How to Value Yourself (Click here for more)

Acknowledge the Inner Critic
Receive a Compliment
Be Grateful for Effort
Forgive Yourself Often
Practice Affirmations in the Mirror
Give Attention to Your Dreams
Let Go of Comparison
 Accept Yourself as You Are

Learning to value yourself requires a gentle shift in perspective to how you show up in your life. Such small yet potent changes can make all the difference for yourself and the greater good.

Here is a great article on when you value others it improves your self-value! PhyscologyTODAY article

“You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You, yourself, as much as anybody in the universe, deserve your love and affection” – Buddha
