What is Mindfulness?
The awareness of where you are and what you are doing, and to be fully present. Mindfulness is about not getting overly reactive or overwhelmed with what is going on around you. We all have this quality, however it is something we need to learn how to access.
That is my issue right now. I don't know how to access it fully. Mindfulness and meditation are supposed to help in the healing process from emotional abuse. I thought I would give it a try.
Doing this has been really hard for me. I have tried meditation before but I just can't seem to shut my mind down. Sometimes I get so engrossed in obsessive thoughts about something that just happened or worrying about the future which creates anxiety.
For a lot of people mindfulness is not always easy. With our experiences, thoughts, feelings, emotional and physical discomforts that naturally come into our minds we tend to pull our attention away.

Everyday I try working on my mindfulness. A common way to develop it is awareness of breathing. There are many other ways too. I will try them all until I am able to develop a steady attention that will firmly plant me in the present moment.
