Top 5 Must for Healing

I have done a lot of research the past several months. When
you leave an emotionally abusive relationship, education is the number one way to start the healing process. Understanding what happened to myself, and why it happened were crucial in my healing process.

Once you begin to understand what happened and why, you can start down the road to healing YOU! These are My Top 5 Musts for healing from an emotional abuse.

EXERCISE - A must from the start, even if it's just a walk down
the street. If you have to, start small and build each day. Daily e
xercise has many psychological and emotional benefits.

  • Meeting your exercise goals or challenges, even small ones, can boost your self-confidence.
  • While out walking just exchanging a friendly smile or greeting as you walk around your neighborhood can help your mood.
  • Exercise releases those feel-good endorphins, a natural brain chemical that can enhance your sense of well-being.
  • Exercise is a way you can get away from the cycle of negative thoughts that feed depression and anxiety

SUNSunlight boosts your serotonin levels. Serotonin helps with boosting your mood. It can help calm you and keep you focused. Without enough sun exposure, your serotonin levels can dip. Low levels of serotonin can be linked to a higher risk of depression.

FRESH AIR - Spending 20 minutes outside each day, preferably in a green space, can reduce blood pressure, heart rate, stress and prevent development of psychiatric disorders.

It took several months to work through all my negative emotions to finally forgive myself. Once I understood my state of mind at the time and gave myself some compassion for the ME I was at the time, it was easier to forgive myself. Now I look for the positives from the situation I was in. I have become a stronger person with boundaries. I can see the red flags and I know my worth.

There were some really great positives for me. I met some amazing people who I now call good friends. I had some fantastic life changing adventures. I was able to live in an scenic place. It was a high price to pay financially and emotionally, but I will come out on top. I don't think I will ever forgive him but that's God's job not mine!

GRATITUDE -  I practice this every day. What am I thankful for today.
I now look at the bad things that happen in my life with gratitude. If I never was in my situation in Colorado where I had to leave I would never have this amazing opportunity to be with my sisters. My life would have gone down a different path.

Now for the first time since I was in high school, I live in the same town (or county) as my sisters. I am savoring every moment with them knowing tomorrow may take us down another path where we once again go our own way. It was a tough price to pay to be here but I am grateful.
