Jeep My New Grocery Getter

My Jeep is My Sanctuary

My Jeep make Errands fun

My Jeep Make Errands Fun

Before my Jeep I would hate to go grocery shopping or run errands. Now that I have my Jeep, I look forward to it. Everything just seems more fun when you are driving a Jeep! When I come walking out of the grocery store, and I see my Jeep, I get a big smile on my face and I say to myself, "Hey, that's my Jeep! Isn't it awesome!" Sometimes as I'm heading into the grocery store, I sneak a peek by turning around to get a look at my Jeep. I can never get enough peeks.  It looks so good sitting in the parking lot!

My Groceries Fit

Before my Jeep, I would have to take time to put down the back seats to fit all my groceries in the car. Sometimes that would be too much work, so I would just set the groceries on the back seat. Something inevitably would fall on the floor as I was driving. Well - not in my Jeep.  Everything fits in the back just fine, and I didn't even have to put any seats down.

Check out my post about must have Jeep Mom Jeep Accessories

Things definitely got a lot better with my Jeep, some things stay the same though. My boys still argue and bicker in the back seat.

The first day home from vacation is usually always difficult.  But, not when you are coming home to your Jeep after being gone for 8 days. I was relieved to see my Jeep sitting in the garage, where I left it, and was very excited to get back behind the wheel.

My Jeep parked in the garage.

The first day back from a vacation for me is spent running errands, and today was no different. First, it was off to swim practice with my youngest.

Then to the vet. Our dog, Sterling, was crying all night. Turns out she has "swimmers ear", and she's not even on the swim team.

In the olden days, when I had a mini-van or my crossover, I was involved in many car pools for all the camps and practices. Well, with a Jeep it's a little more difficult to be a part of a car pool in our neighborhood. There are only 3 seatbelts in the Jeep's backseat, limiting the number of kids I could car pool.

Some mom's see this as a "con" in the list of "pros" and "cons". I actually see this as a very big "pro". Why?... you might ask...well... On those days when my youngest and I don't feel like heading to swim or basketball or soccer practice, we don't have too. We have no commitments to any car pools. So when the mood strikes us, and we want to play hookey from practice... we put down the top and head out for a drive.

My son and I off for a day of fun.

I figure life is too short, it should be enjoyed. Sometimes you need to be spontaneous and have fun. My Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has helped me lighten up and relax. It's easy to enjoy life when you have a Jeep. My family and I love to take a drive with the top down and feel the wind in our face and sun on our skin. Looks like there will be a lot of "Playing Hookey" in our future!

Why These Jeep Accessories Are Worth It

One thing I’ve learned from years of Jeep ownership is that small upgrades make a huge difference.

Practical Jeep accessories help solve everyday frustrations like:

  • loose gear rolling around
  • difficult entry into lifted Jeeps
  • sun exposure while driving topless
  • muddy interiors after trail rides
  • lack of organized storage

The best part is that most of these upgrades are affordable and easy to install.

Best Jeep Accessories for Comfort While Driving Topless

1. Sunglasses

Driving with the top off means constant sunlight and glare. A quality pair of sunglasses helps reduce eye strain and improves visibility on sunny drives and trail rides.

I never leave home without mine during Jeep season.

2. Straw Hat or Baseball Cap

A good hat is one of the simplest Jeep accessories that makes a huge difference.

It helps:

  • control wind-blown hair
  • reduce sun exposure
  • improve visibility
  • make long drives more comfortable

A lightweight straw hat works great during summer Jeep trips.

3. Grab Handles

Grab handles are one of my favorite Jeep upgrades, especially for lifted Jeeps.

They make getting in and out easier while also providing extra support during off-road driving. Grab handles are a must-have, particularly in lifted Jeeps, providing extra support and ease of entry and exit.

My Favorites:

I personally use the both in my Jeep and love both the comfort and added style.

If you travel with kids or passengers often, an upgraded dual cup holder is incredibly useful.

It helps:

  • keep drinks separated
  • reduce spills
  • organize small trash
  • improve backseat convenience

Simple upgrades like this make family Jeep adventures much easier.

A Molle seat back organizer is perfect for keeping trail gear and everyday items organized.

  • trail essentials

It keeps clutter off the floor and makes everything easier to access.

6. Recovery Kit

Every Jeep owner should carry a basic recovery kit even beginners.

A good Jeep recovery kit should include:

  • soft shackles
  • metal shackles
  • tow strap
  • tree saver
  • snatch block
  • gloves
  • fire extinguisher

Being prepared on the trail helps protect both you and your Jeep.

If you’re new to off-roading, I highly recommend building a recovery kit before tackling more difficult trails.

7. Mechanix Gloves

Mechanix gloves are one of the most-used items in my Jeep.

They help protect your hands during:

  • recovery situations
  • tire changes
  • Jeep maintenance
  • winching
  • trail repairs

They also provide better grip when handling dirty or muddy equipment.

8. Rugged Ridge Floor Mats

Jeep interiors get dirty fast especially after trail rides.

Rugged Ridge floor mats are one of the best upgrades for protecting your interior from:

  • mud
  • water
  • snow
  • sand
  • spilled drinks

They’re easy to remove and clean, which is a huge advantage after off-road trips.

Jeep Accessories That Improve Everyday Driving Comfort

9. SpiderWeb Shade

The SpiderWeb Shade is one of my favorite Jeep comfort accessories.

It reduces direct sunlight while still allowing airflow during topless driving.

Benefits include:

  • less sun exposure
  • cooler interior temperatures
  • improved passenger comfort
  • convenient overhead storage for jackets or blankets

If you love driving without your hard top, this accessory is absolutely worth it.

10. Insulated Water Bottle

Hydration is important during long Jeep trips and trail rides.

An insulated water bottle keeps drinks cold for hours and prevents spills while bouncing around off-road.

I always keep one within reach during trail days.

11. Jeep-Themed T-Shirt

Not every Jeep accessory needs to be functional.

Sometimes it’s just fun to show your Jeep pride with a comfortable Jeep-themed shirt while out on adventures, events, or Jeep meetups.

Best Jeep Wrangler Floor Mats: My 10+ Year Review of Rugged Ridge All-Terrain Floor Liners

A Must-Have for Your Jeep Wrangler

Updated: March 29, 2025

If you own a Jeep Wrangler, protecting your interior is one of the smartest investments you can make. Whether you're driving muddy trails, snowy roads, sandy beaches, or simply hauling kids and groceries, your factory carpet can take a beating.

After using Rugged Ridge All-Terrain Floor Liners for more than 10 years, they've become one of the Jeep accessories I recommend the most. They've survived off-road adventures, Colorado winters, spilled drinks, muddy boots, and everyday life and they still look great.

Quick Answer:
Are Rugged Ridge floor mats worth it? Yes. If you're looking for durable, custom-fit floor liners that keep mud, snow, salt, and spills off your Jeep's carpet, Rugged Ridge All-Terrain Floor Liners are an excellent value. They've protected my Jeep for over a decade of real-world use.

Why I Chose Rugged Ridge Floor Mats

When I bought my Jeep Wrangler, I knew it wouldn't stay clean for long.

Between trail rides, snowy Maryland and Colorado winters, and everyday driving, I wanted something that would protect the carpet without constantly worrying about mud and water soaking through.

After researching several options, I chose the Rugged Ridge All-Terrain Floor Liners.

Ten years later, I still use them.

That alone says a lot.

What I Like After 10 Years of Use

These aren't just rubber mats.

They're molded floor liners designed specifically for the Jeep Wrangler.

Excellent Containment

The raised outer lip keeps:

  • Mud
  • Snow
  • Salt
  • Water
  • Gravel
  • Spilled drinks

contained on the mat instead of soaking into your carpet.

After a muddy day on the trail, I simply pull the mats out and rinse them off.

Perfect Jeep Fit

Unlike universal floor mats that slide around, these fit the contours of my Jeep perfectly.

They stay where they're supposed to and provide full coverage where dirt usually collects.

Easy to Clean

This might be my favorite feature.

Most of the time I simply:

  1. Remove the mat
  2. Spray it off with a garden hose
  3. Let it dry
  4. Put it back in the Jeep

Even sticky messes usually come clean with a little car wash soap and a soft brush.

Real-Life Test: Mud, Snow, and Chocolate Shakes

These mats have seen just about everything.

They've handled:

  • Years of Minnesota road salt
  • Mud from off-road trails
  • Snow-covered boots
  • Gravel roads
  • Fast-food spills
  • Chocolate shakes from road trips

Instead of worrying about stains on the carpet, everything stays contained on the liner until I'm ready to clean it.

That's exactly what I wanted when I bought them.

Jeep Momma Tip

One feature many Wrangler owners don't realize is that the factory rear cargo mat is reversible.

Flip it over and you'll find a vinyl side that's much easier to clean after hauling camping gear, recovery equipment, or muddy hiking boots.

It's a simple trick that helps protect your Jeep even more.

The factory Jeep Liner floor mat can be flipped to a rubber side.

Pros and Cons

Pros

✔ Custom fit for Jeep Wrangler

✔ Excellent protection from mud, snow, and water

✔ Raised edges keep spills contained

✔ Extremely durable

✔ Easy to remove and clean

✔ Still performing great after 10+ years

Cons

✘ More expensive than universal rubber mats

✘ Black color shows dried mud until rinsed off

Who Should Buy Rugged Ridge Floor Mats?

These floor liners are ideal if you:

  • Drive your Jeep year-round
  • Live where it snows
  • Go off-roading
  • Camp or overland
  • Have kids or pets
  • Want to preserve your Jeep's resale value

If you're constantly tracking dirt into your Jeep, they're well worth the investment.

Rugged Ridge vs. WeatherTech

One question I hear often is whether to choose Rugged Ridge or WeatherTech.

Both are quality floor liners.

I chose Rugged Ridge because they offered the custom fit I wanted at a more affordable price, and after more than a decade of use, they've exceeded my expectations.

If you're comparing brands, think about:

  • Budget
  • Coverage
  • Warranty
  • Overall fit
  • Long-term durability

For my Jeep, Rugged Ridge has been an easy recommendation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Rugged Ridge floor mats waterproof?

Yes. They're made from durable thermoplastic material that won't absorb water and helps contain mud, snow, and spills.

Do Rugged Ridge floor liners fit all Jeep Wranglers?

They're available for many Wrangler models, including JK, JL, and Gladiator. Be sure to select the correct year and trim when ordering.

How do you clean Rugged Ridge floor mats?

Simply remove them from your Jeep and rinse them with a garden hose. For stubborn dirt, use mild car wash soap and a soft brush.

Are Rugged Ridge mats better than factory mats?

In my experience, yes. The raised edges provide significantly better protection than standard factory carpet mats, especially in wet or muddy conditions.

Do they slide around?

No. Because they're designed specifically for Jeep Wranglers, they stay securely in place during everyday driving and off-road adventures.

Final Thoughts

Floor mats may not be the most exciting Jeep upgrade, but they're one of the smartest.

After more than ten years of daily driving, winter weather, and off-road adventures, my Rugged Ridge floor liners continue to protect my Jeep exactly as they did when they were new.

If you're looking for one of the first accessories every Jeep owner should buy, these are at the top of my list.
