Cruising Through Life’s Crossroads
Finding your passion begins with self-reflection, reconnecting with childhood interests, and trying new experiences. By inventorying your talents, letting go of fears, and exploring what excites you, you can uncover purpose and direction in life.
My Turning Point: From Lost to Jeep Life
Ten years ago, I faced a major turning point. My two boys were growing up, and the demands of parenthood were shifting. My identity had always been centered around family, and I cherished every moment of motherhood.
But as my children became more independent, I was forced to confront a void.
After being a stay-at-home mom for twelve years, I felt lost, searching for direction and purpose. My previous career in television news was no longer an option, and depression began to set in as life seemed to rush by without me.
Then, impulsively, I bought a Jeep.
Unknowingly, that Jeep became the vehicle for finding passion .
Some people labeled it a midlife crisis. I saw it as a transformative moment. That spur-of-the-moment purchase became the catalyst for self-discovery. It pushed me to chase new dreams, uncover hidden strengths, and create a life I truly loved.

What Passion Really Means
Passion is something you love to do.
It’s the reason you wake up in the morning—or the reason you stay up late at night. Building your life around what you love is something you will never regret. Once you find that something, it gives you the drive, commitment, and energy necessary to be successful and fulfilled.
💡 Find your passion, and you will find your purpose.

How to Find Your Passion: 8 Practical Steps
Step 1: Self-Reflection – Finding Your Quiet Space
Ask yourself tough but important questions:
-
What do I love to do?
-
What makes me happiest?
-
What skills or talents am I naturally good at?
-
What excites me so much I lose track of time?
-
What did I dream of as a child?
-
What would I do even if I didn’t get paid?
Step 2: Inventory Your Talents – What Comes Naturally
Look at what flows easily for you. Focus on the things you love and excel at—even if they’re different from what you think you “should” be good at.
Step 3: Unearth Childhood Passions
Think back to your younger self. Childhood dreams often reveal core passions we bury as adults.
Childhood interests can often hold clues to your true passions.
Step 4: Create a Passion List – Explore and Experience
Write down 3–5 things you genuinely enjoy. Make time to explore them. Be open to stepping outside your comfort zone.
Step 5: Continued Self-Reflection – Persistence and Patience
Finding passion is rarely instant. It’s a process. Keep asking deep questions. Keep experimenting. You may also realize this means redefining what “living your best life” and Finding Balance truly means.
Step 6: Let Go of Your Fears
Fear often blocks passion.
-
Afraid of failure?
-
Worried about finances?
-
Concerned you’re “too old” to start something new?
Release those fears. Create space for your passion to shine.
Step 7: Discovering Your Core Passion
Once you lean into passion, life begins to shift. You gain energy, confidence, and purpose. You start living an Empowered Lifestyle that puts you back in control.
Step 8: Sharing Your Passion – The Ripple Effect
When you share your passion, you not only empower yourself—you inspire others.
For me, that passion turned into my Jeep Momma blog, YouTube channel, and podcast. Off-roading, overlanding, and connecting with Jeepers became more than hobbies—they became my purpose.
And here’s the truth: sometimes your passion has been there all along, waiting for you to recognize it.

Yes! Many people discover that what starts as a hobby evolves into a lifelong passion—or even a career.
