As I grown older I find myself becoming more nostalgic. I begin to take strolls down memory lane reminiscing of all those great family get-togethers. I cherish the moments and crave them more and more. Creating family traditions and gatherings is never too late even as your children get older.



Family gatherings are an essential part of our lives, as they provide an opportunity to bond with our loved ones, create lasting memories, and strengthen family ties. Hosting a family party can be a fun and rewarding experience, but it can also be stressful if not planned properly.

The Importance of Food and Drinks




Food and drinks are the very essence of any gathering, as they create a sense of togetherness and shared experience. They not only nourish the body but also feed the soul, as people bond over delicious meals and refreshing beverages. A well-planned menu can make a gathering memorable, as it caters to diverse palates and preferences. It's not just about the taste, but also the presentation, which adds to the overall ambiance of the event. Food and drinks are the glue that holds a gathering together, fostering stronger bonds and creating lasting memories.


Plan Ahead

The best parties begin with a plan. Consider what you are hoping to achieve with your family party and what you would like your guests to experience at the party. Details like your invite list, your date, the time, the theme, your location, whether or not you have any dietary requirements for your guests, age ranges for the guests, and anything else that you know is important to you for your magical family party. Get a detailed checklist of the things you would like to get organized—from invites to clean up—and a timeline of the tasks that you will need to do to get there. Even asking for opinions on the dish you want to make can help. You might find out that guests want simple cleaning eating dishes. Hence, having opinions can help you understand if it is the right decision.

Get Personal

To be a be a good party host do things differently by making the party feel personal. Customize the decorations and table settings creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Pay attention to lighting, music, and the wow factor, and consider fresh flowers, candles, and textiles to give warmth and elegance to our space. Present a friendly face when your guests arrive, offer a nice ice-breaker refreshment when your guests arrive, and encourage mingling so guests can feel more comfortable and connected.


Plan Fun Activities

My most favorite family gatherings that created long lasting memories for everyone usually consisted of some sort of activity. Hanging around a bonfire sharing our favorite stories of family gathering in the past is one everyone could partake in. My family loves a good board game from Clue to Taboo to Apples to Apples. We also love a good trivia game.


Capture the Memories

Don’t forget to get lots of photos and videos so you can cherish the memories. Years down the road you can bring out the old pictures and videos at another family gathering. Another great idea is to create photo books as gifts for your family members.

Top 4 Off-Road Vehicle Options For 2024

Over the years, I have come across articles stating the best off-road vehicles. I always found it ironic the Jeep Wrangler is on the bottom of the list or not on the list at all. Nate and I discussed these different articles about "top" vehicles in certain categories on our podcast, The Off-Road Insiders. I decided to compile my own list of top off-road vehicles for 2024.

I am all about simplifying my life to make time to do what I enjoy and makes me happy. However, in a world where daily phone and technology use is unavoidable (even though it could simplify your life), it's hard to know what to do in order to protect your data. 

According to a recent study, data security worries are on the rise, with 60% of individuals believing that their devices are vulnerable to security breaches. For example, many adults worry about sensitive information, such as banking details, being leaked by hackers who have gained access to their phones or laptops. 

With that in mind, here are some simple (yet effective) ways in which you can enhance your online security and reduce your stress levels moving forward. 


Avoid using the same passwords over and over again


Many people use the same passwords across multiple platforms. After all, this makes it easier to keep track of your passwords, and means you’re unlikely to forget your login details. However, this does leave you incredibly vulnerable to hackers, who can then gain access to multiple different accounts, from social media pages to online banking platforms, using the same password.

While setting strong passwords is a great place to start, they should not be set in stone. In fact, experts advise that you change your password every three months. If this is something that you’d otherwise forget to do, set a reminder on your phone.

Why Being Vulnerable is Valuable

The Great Strength in Showing Vulnerability:
Being True to Oneself



In a world that often prizes strength, resilience, and composure, vulnerability might seem like a weakness. However, if we dig deeper into the intricacies of human connection and personal growth, it becomes evident that vulnerability is not just valuable but also noble. It is the gateway to authenticity, empathy, and genuine relationships. I've come to realize that vulnerability is not a sign of weakness, but rather a sign of courage and authenticity.

I have become hardened, closed off and cold from betrayal in some of my friendships, romantic relationships and work. After two years of healing from this deep emotional pain, I've realized I can no longer keep myself closed off. I have been afraid to open myself up to people because of fear of betrayal. Being vulnerable can be one of the most courageous and meaningful acts we undertake in our lives. Learning the right contexts to being vulnerable is what I am learning now. 




Vulnerability is the willingness to show up and be seen, even when there is no guarantee of the outcome. It's about being honest with ourselves and others, and allowing ourselves to be fully seen, imperfections and all. When we embrace vulnerability, we open ourselves up to a world of possibilities. We allow ourselves to be truly connected with others, to experience love, joy, and belonging in a way that is impossible when we keep ourselves guarded and closed off.

Brené Brown, a renowned researcher and author on the subject of vulnerability, says it best: "Vulnerability is the birthplace of love, belonging, joy, courage, empathy, and creativity. It is the source of hope, empathy, accountability, and authenticity." 

Well, being valuable is actually valuable and noble in the right contexts. Let’s consider what this may mean, and how to avoid being ashamed of such vulnerability

Real Connections & Genuine Relationship

At its core, vulnerability is about being authentic. It's about showing up as our true selves, imperfections and all, without fear of judgment or rejection. When we allow ourselves to be vulnerable, we open the door to genuine connections with others. We give them permission to see us as we truly are, fostering trust and intimacy in our relationships.

Even those we admire have vulnerabilities. It is comforting to know that other people are human just like us. Your first impression of their perfect life isn't always true. 

Vulnerability Breeds Empathy

One of the most powerful outcomes of vulnerability is the cultivation of empathy. When we share our struggles, fears, and insecurities with others, we create space for empathy to flourish. By opening up about our own experiences, we invite others to do the same, fostering a culture of understanding and compassion. By Letting others around you know you are not perfect and that's okay breeds a sense of empathy with other people

Strengthening Relationships

Vulnerability is the cornerstone of meaningful relationships. It requires us to let down our walls, to be honest and open with those we care about. When we allow ourselves to be vulnerable with others, we create space for deeper connections to form. We let people in, allowing them to see the depths of our hearts and minds. In doing so, we strengthen the bonds that hold us together, creating relationships built on trust, authenticity, and mutual respect.

Fostering Personal Growth

Embracing vulnerability is not always easy. It requires courage and a willingness to step outside of our comfort zones. However, it is through moments of vulnerability that we experience some of the most profound moments of personal growth. It is in our moments of weakness that we discover our greatest strengths, and it is through our struggles that we learn the true depths of our resilience.

Being vulnerable can also be a powerful tool for personal growth. When we embrace vulnerability, we open ourselves up to the possibility of failure, rejection, and disappointment. But we also open ourselves up to the possibility of success, acceptance, and happiness. It takes courage to be vulnerable, but the rewards are well worth the risk.

You’ll Be Able To Ask For Help

It can feel embarrassing to admit that we’re struggling in life. But the truth is, everyone struggles at one point or another. There’s no shame in it, provided you don’t hide it all. The next time you're facing a challenge, remember that having the wisdom of asking for help is a sign of courage, not weakness. 

This not only helps you connect to those around you, but it allows you to get the help you may need. For example, starting an addiction program or getting help with being a parent through the relevant services. This can feel like a weight from your shoulders, and you’ll also wonder why it took you so long to let yourself feel that vulnerable. Better late than never, though.



In a world that often encourages us to hide our vulnerabilities and project an image of strength and perfection, it's important to remember that there is great power in being vulnerable. It is through vulnerability that we embrace our authenticity, cultivate empathy, strengthen our relationships, and foster personal growth.
