First Impressions

Nexen sent me a set of Roadian MTX tires to test during  my cross-country Jeep adventure. Over the next 10,000 miles, I drove them across lava rock, desert sand, mountain snow, muddy trails, and hundreds of highway miles. By the end of the trip, I knew exactly what these tires could and couldn't do.

In the Fall of 2019, I embarked on an overlanding trip, hitting various terrains, including lava rock, snow, ice, mud, sand, and highway asphalt. The Nexen Roadian MTX tires were my trusted companions through it all, and I was impressed by how well they performed in each environment.

Outstanding Performance Across All Terrains

I’ve tested five different off-road tires, and so far, the Nexen Roadian MTX has outperformed all of them. Whether it was tackling the harsh lava rocks of the Pacific Northwest or navigating the sandy deserts of Arizona, these tires handled it with ease.

I've wheeled on five different off-road tires over the years, and these are still one of my favorites for balancing trail performance with comfortable highway driving. If I were planning another long overlanding trip, I wouldn't hesitate to run them again.

Long-Term Durability and Performance

One of the features I love about the Nexen Roadian MTX tires is their exceptional sidewall durability. During my time wheeling in Arizona, I pushed these tires through some of the harshest conditions, and they held up remarkably well. Even after 10,000 miles, I found very little wear.

One of the biggest surprises was how well these tires performed without airing down aggressively. At 14 PSI, they performed similarly to other tires I’ve run at 10 PSI, thanks to the stiff sidewall construction.
