As I prepare my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon for my upcoming Adventure, I am looking for low cost ways to outfit my Jeep. I will be living in my Jeep full time for a month, which means I need a good place to sleep. In October I will hit the dirt paths and spend a month driving across America. 


I have been scouring the internet for inexpensive mattress that will fit in the Wrangler. I have taken out my rear seats to give me a little more room. 

There are several different blow up camping mattresses and memory foam mattresses but they are all over $100 which is beyond my budget. I finally found a 4" foam mattress on sale at Mattress Firm. It measured 4" thick x 39" width and 75" long. About 5" too long for my JKU. It fits perfectly width wise even with my MorRyde ammo can carrier shelves.

Modifying my new mattress

I went about modifying the mattress to fit length-wise in the Jeep. All I needed was a box cutter, scissors and bread knife. Super easy modification and I got two pillows out of the deal.
