 As I approached, I realized it perfectly
frames Mount Rushmore in the distance.

First-Hand Experience:

I had never experienced a pigtail bridge before driving Iron Mountain Road, and let me tell you—it was kind of cool! The way the road loops back under itself while climbing was a driving experience unlike any other. And then, suddenly, Mount Rushmore was framed perfectly in one of the tunnels! It’s like the road was designed to build suspense before revealing the monument. If you're a Jeeper who loves twisty roads, this is a must-drive route.

First-Hand Experience:

Driving Route 66 from Kingman to Oatman was unlike any road trip I had done before. As I left Kingman behind, the road began to twist and turn up the steep, winding mountain pass toward Oatman. The sheer number of switchbacks and sharp curves kept me on my toes—it’s one of those roads where you’re constantly gripping the wheel and leaning into the turns. It felt like a mini off-road adventure on pavement!

As I crested the last mountain pass and started descending into Oatman, I spotted something moving up ahead—donkeys! At first, I thought it was just one or two, but as I rolled into town, I realized they were everywhere—just standing in the street like they owned the place! The burros of Oatman are wild descendants of the pack animals used by miners over a century ago, and now they wander freely through town. They poked their heads into car windows, nuzzled up to visitors for snacks, and completely ignored any traffic laws. It was one of the coolest (and funniest) things I had ever seen!

I’ve been lucky enough to drive some incredible roads, but Snowy Range Scenic Byway is one that truly left me speechless. It’s not just a drive—it’s a journey through some of the most majestic scenery Wyoming has to offer.

I remember taking my family up there for the first time because I wanted them to see the raw, untouched beauty of the Rocky Mountains in Wyoming. As we climbed higher into the range, I watched their faces light up when we reached Mirror Lake, where the still water perfectly reflected the rugged peaks above—it was like something out of a postcard.

Then, we stopped at one of the cascading waterfalls along the route, and the sound of rushing water against the backdrop of towering snow-capped mountains was pure magic. The air felt fresher, the sky seemed bluer, and for a moment, time just slowed down.

Most Jeep Wranglers need a differential fluid change every 30,000 miles. If you off-road in mud, water, or sand, change it every 15,000 miles or sooner if the fluid appears cloudy or milky, which indicates water contamination.

After more than a decade of wheeling my own Jeep Wrangler, including deep mud and water crossings, I’ve learned how critical it is to check gear oil regularly. I’ve personally used both Lube Locker gaskets and RTV sealants, and both have given me consistent, leak-free results during my fluid changes

• Immediately if you notice cloudy, milky, or gray gear oil it's a clear sign of water contamination

Off-roading accelerates wear because water, mud, and fine debris can enter the differential through the breather or seals.

Tip: After any deep water crossing, check your gear oil color. Healthy oil should be clear and amber. Milky oil = water intrusion and requires immediate replacement.

4. What’s more important: tread pattern or sidewall strength?

Both matter, but for off-roading:

• Tread pattern gives you traction in mud, rocks, sand, and snow.

• Reinforced sidewalls protect against cuts, punctures, and pinch flats on rocks.

If you wheel on rocky terrain or remote trails, sidewall strength is critical for durability and safety.

5. How will aggressive off-road tires affect my daily driving?

Aggressive tires can have a few trade-offs:

• More road noise at highway speeds

• Slightly worse fuel economy due to higher rolling resistance

• Harsher ride compared to highway or mild all-terrain tires

If your Jeep is a daily driver, an all-terrain tire is often the best compromise.

6. Are all-terrain tires good enough for snow?

Many A/T tires with the 3PMSF (Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake) symbol perform well in light to moderate snow and cold temperatures. For frequent ice and deep winter conditions, dedicated winter tires or a severe-snow-rated A/T will give better grip and braking.

Who was I outside of being a mom? What was my purpose now?

Starting my blog wasn’t just about writing—it was about figuring out who I was again. I used it as a self-reflection tool, diving deep into questions that had been lingering in my mind:

• What activities make me lose track of time?

I followed the same steps I later wrote about in my blog posts on how to find your passion, documenting my journey as I uncovered the pieces of myself that had been buried under years of motherhood.

During this process, I realized that my Jeep wasn’t just a vehicle—it was a gateway to something bigger. I was stepping into a whole new world: the Jeep Life.

At first, I had no idea what "Jeep Life" really meant. I thought I had simply bought a fun new vehicle. But as I connected with other Jeep owners online and in person, I realized it was a lifestyle, a culture, and a community.

I took my Jeep on its first off-road adventure and was instantly hooked. The challenge of learning 4WD techniques like rock crawling, water fording, and hill descents reminded me of the adrenaline rush I once felt chasing breaking news stories. Only this time, it was me behind the wheel, forging my own path.

Through these experiences, my blog transformed. It wasn’t just about self-reflection anymore—it was about documenting my adventures, sharing what I learned, and helping others discover off-roading.

I even created an entire Off-Roading Guide for beginners, where I break down everything from trail etiquette to essential gear recommendations.

A Turning Point: Recognition in the Jeep Industry

I remember the first time Jeep aftermarket companies took notice of my blog. I wasn’t even looking for the opportunity, but suddenly, two well-known brands—Steer Smarts (formerly Powers and Sons) and Extreme Terrain—reached out to me.

They wanted me to test and review their products.

It was surreal. Until that point, I had simply been sharing my personal experiences, never imagining that companies in the industry would recognize my work. That moment changed everything. I knew I had something real. My passion had evolved into something more—it was influencing others and gaining credibility.

Rediscovering My Love for Video Editing

As I continued writing, I realized that words alone weren’t enough—I wanted to show my experiences. That’s when I discovered YouTube.

In the newsroom, I had spent years behind a camera, capturing stories and editing video. When I left my career, I thought that chapter was closed. But as I started filming my off-road trail rides and Jeep modifications, my love for editing resurfaced. I was back behind the camera, this time telling my own story.
